Naoko

Bio

Naoko moved to London from Japan to study textiles at Goldsmiths College but switched to glass. Completing her  MA in the Royal College of Art Naoko sold her glass sculptures worldwide, exhibiting her work internationally. Her work is sought after by collectors in U.S.A, Europe and U.K. and is shown in public collections at the Victoria and Albert Museum London, Craft Council London and The Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge. Returning to textiles, Naoko began collecting Kimonos to customise for sale. Inspired by textiles in countries she has visited, Naoko creates bag straps from Kente fabric bought in Ghana and material bought in Colombia and creates leather bags inspired by Origami.

Naoko is a popular editorial model and often commissions combine the artisan and the model. Her editorials include The Violet Book, Cultured Magazine, Them Magazine and Nowhere Magazine. While fashion and commercial clients range through Simone Rocha, Muji, Levis and TENA.

A strong supporter and collaborator of fashion and artisan graduates, Naoko often appears in arthouse graduate films and models for fashion installations.
