Jevon Antoni-Jay

ARTISAN

With over 50 years’ experience in the theatre, film and TV industry undertaking various roles from Performer, Opera Singer, Ballet Dancer, Costumer Designer to Writer, Choreographer and Director, Jevon began his multi-discipline career as a dancer both at the Royal Ballet School, London; moving on to Balettakademien and then Den Norske Ballett in Norway where he danced with Nureyev, until he finalised his ballet career at the National Ballet of Canada. Leaving ballet he joined the ground breaking rock-musical ‘Hair’ directed by Victor Spinetti, and moved to Amsterdam. While in the Nederlands he acquired the lead in a television film, ‘Genius, Genius’, and choreographed the IKOR Television production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical ‘Joseph and His Amazing Technicoloured Dream Coat’ for which he won First Prize in the Baden Baden television festival for choreography/makeup and costumes, a BAFTA nomination for ‘Stanley Baxter on Television’ and a Hollywood American Music Award for costume design on ‘Venus’ for the pop group Bananarama. 

Jevon's costume design has been embraced by the likes of Ronnie Corbett, Bruce Forsyth, Vera Lynn, Jasper Carrott, Wayne Dobson, Torvil and Dean, Stanley Baxter, Elton John, Omar Sharif, The Weather Girls, Cilla Black, Bob Monkhouse, Kate Robbins, Bananarama, Duran Duran, Adam Ant, Wayne Sleep and designed the Wedding dress and choreographed the wedding for Siobhan Fahey and Dave Stewart . 

As well as a choreographer, dancer (ballet, contemporary dance, ballroom, tap dance, jazz dance, Latin-funk and flamenco dance), Jevon is an accomplished painter, opera singer, set & interior-designer (including Bob Monkhouse's living room), animal lover, cook (formerly sharing a flat with 'Hairy Biker' Dave Myers and has worked closely with young disadvantaged teenagers as a residential social worker.
